Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is where a small telescope is passed through the urethra into the bladder and the bladder cavity is checked to exclude infection and disease within the bladder. This is done in the rooms here. Local anaesthetic is applied to the urethra and is relatively pain free. You should not be concerned. The risks of your procedure include a urinary tract infection and rarely perforation of the bladder. The latter is very unlikely.

PLEASE EMPTY YOUR BLADDER JUST PRIOR TO THE EXAMINATION.
